Fully Vaccinated Michigan Couple Dies From Breakthrough COVID-19

Posted: September 29, 2021

Cal Dunham and his wife Linda, from Michigan, tragically succumbed to the virus on Sunday while holding hands.

The couple, who had undisclosed underlying health conditions, fell ill at the beginning of the month while on a family camping trip.

Sarah recalled her parents being very cautious toward Covid-19 and before the camping trip, they made sure to be fully vaccinated.

Days later, both Cal, 59, and Linda, 66, were hospitalized and put on ventilators.

But by Sunday, doctors in the told Sarah that there wasn’t much more that they could do and that her parents would need to come off of life support on Monday.

COVID-19 Claims 2021 Waverly Hills Haunted House

Posted: September 10, 2021

The Waverly Hills Sanatorium won’t be haunting fans the same way this Halloween season.

The venue announced there will not be a haunted house this year because of COVID-19 concerns. Instead the sanatorium will be adding some more dates for smaller group tours and overnight stays.

In years past, people from all across America walked the hallways of the former tuberculosis hospital during the haunted house.

CDC Quietly Redefines Vaccination

Posted: September 10, 2021

1. Vaccination does not necessarily prevent infection. (It may reduce symptoms.)

2. You can be “vaccinated” and still spread the disease. So there is no such thing as a “vaccine refuser being dangerous to others.”

3. There is no social benefit to the government mandating the shot other than fewer individuals getting sick (medical costs).

Microsoft Delays US Return to Office Indefinitely

Posted: September 10, 2021

Microsoft is pushing off its return to offices in the US indefinitely amid rising cases of COVID-19 across the country.

“Given the uncertainty of COVID-19, we’ve decided against attempting to forecast a new date for a full reopening of our US work sites in favor of opening US work sites as soon as we’re able to do so safely based on public health guidance,” Microsoft’s corporate vice president for modern work, Jared Spataro, wrote in a blog post. He added that the company would communicate a 30-day transition period to allow employees time to prepare to return to work sites.

Hot Dogs May Take 36 Minutes of Your Life Away

Posted: September 4, 2021

Researchers at the University of Michigan School of Public Health have found that eating a single hot dog could take 36 minutes off your life.

In their study, published this month in the journal Nature Food, they looked at 5,853 foods in the US diet and measured their effects in minutes of healthy life gained or lost.

The research, which also addressed environmental impacts, found that substituting 10% of daily caloric intake from beef and processed meats with a mix of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and select seafood could reduce one’s dietary carbon footprint by a third and allow people to gain 48 minutes of healthy life per day.

Garlic Town, USA 2021 Takes Place in Bennington, Vermont Labor Day Weekend

Posted: September 4, 2021

Bennington, Vermont will transform into “Garlic Town, USA” on Saturday to celebrate of all things garlic.

Bennington’s annual Garlic and Herb Festival is held every year on Labor Day weekend. Two years ago, the festival saw crowds of over 16,000 patrons and 200 garlic-themed vendors.

Due to the COVID pandemic and Vermont restrictions on festivals in 2020, the 25th annual “Garlicfest,” was canceled and the organizers, the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce, pivoted to a different model in a rebranded, “Garlic Town, USA” event in downtown Bennington.

A Maine landlord arranged for the rescue of 15 tarantulas and one python that had been left behind by a tenant.

Animal rescuer Drew Desjardins was called to the apartment Wednesday in Auburn, the Sun Journal reported.

He found that four of 19 tarantulas had died and that the ball python did not have water. Desjardins said Thursday that he took the surviving animals back to his home and that they were doing fine.
